Afghanistan VS India, 3rd Match

Will the Indian's weather the Afghan storm? © AFP The Picture It's very rare to see a resigned look from a top class team like India. That's exactly what we saw on Sunday after the hammering they received  at the hands of New Zealand. That defeat has ensured that India's dreams of qualifying to the next round is out of their hands and is hanging by a very thin thread. In this angst, the Indians come face to face with one of the most entertaining teams of this world cup. Afghanistan's story in itself is something to behold. Even in times of adversity their team has stayed strong and allowed cricket to take centre stage. They have won 2 out of the three games they have played, winning both quite convincingly and giving Pakistan a real scare in the third. They couldn't have asked for a much better time to face their opponents. They have a real chance to make it to the semis if they manage to win their remaining games and now have India standing in their way. If Ind

One of the pre tournament favourites along with being in the top half of the points table(India) take on the bottom placed Afghanistan. The Indians are on a roll and have kept their winning streak intact by steam rolling Pakistan  in Manchester. The Afghans on the other hand received a beating at the hands of the England, with their bowlers bearing the brunt of the attack from the English batsmen. They have also lost every match in this tournament  and are on the verge of being the first team to be knocked out. The Indians are cementing their place in the top four and are slowly creeping into the semis. With an injury to one of their bowlers India couldn't have asked for a better match to play a different one and as well try different combinations as they slowly progress to the business end o

Both teams would want to put on a show for different reasons.  The Picture The two best teams of the tournament face each other, well one of them(India) has made the final while the other(Afghanistan) is sadly bowing out. Afghanistan has been one of the better teams in the tournament, with two comprehensive wins in the group stages while in the super fours were in the game till the end until the pressure got to them and they gave it away, in the process being the first team to be eliminated in the super fours. India on the other hand are coming off a huge victory over Pakistan which is their second in less than a week. After a scare in the first match against Hong Kong, team India has managed to swat all their opponents away. This game being a dead rubber wouldn't affect the table, but Afghanistan would want to end on a high and show that they aren't the underdogs anymore whereas India on the other hand would hope that their middle order puts up a good show  befor

Afghanistan VS India, Only Test

Afghanistan 1st test squad poses for the cameras. © BCCI The Picture It is a jubilant time for Afghan cricket. Just a year after receiving full membership from the ICC they are set to play their first test match against India which is the number 1 ranked test team. After being on the fringes for quite a long time they get their chance to show the world where they truly belong. With Afghanistan dominating the intercontinental cup campaigns they used to play when they were associates along with Ireland, they now have a chance to stump the Indians in their own den. With Virat Kohli injured and not available for the one off match and a few other unavailabilities, India may have few headaches of their own. They go into the match as firm favourites but the spirited Afghanis are playing with everything to gain and nothing to lose. With Afghanistan going spin heavy it will be interesting on how the Indian batsmen counter the crafty Afghanistan bowlers. India will be wary of their op
